blade runner is a classic. and I am a huge fan of this movie. I have watched the original version (1982) 12 times. yes, twelve.
this neo-noir-science fiction defined sci-fi for a generation. my favorite scene (not sure if i watched it thirty or more times) is when the advanced replicant rachel (sean young) is playing the piano in the blade runner deckard's apartment (harrison ford).
they start to chatting and when deckard tries to kiss her, she runs away toward the exit door. why does she run away? Well, if we take into consideration the context of 'Blade runner', that happens maybe because she realizes she was in love with him. She wanted to leave because she found out she is not a human being. as a replicant, she doubted all her emotions – including her love for him.
She thought she "could not rely on her feelings" Also deckard's job as a blade runner is searching and destroying her kind, so she did not want to put him in a difficult situation. So deckard slamming on the door to stop her, I guess, is exactly what a woman would appreciate a man to do, fighting to keep her. He loves her and she loves him back. and i love this scene below.

The final product ultimately comes together to showcase a world that is just as picturesque — if not more so — than anything that could have been replicated in CG.
3D modeling software is still used during the process, however, properly designing the scale-model cities, while the actual building, painting and weathering is all done by hand.
Weta Workshop was honored to contribute to practical miniatures, selected cinematography, and concept design work to Blade Runner 2049, directed by Denis Villeneuve. This was a passion project for our crew, who are huge fans of Ridley Scott's iconic 1982 original. Here in Wellington, NZ, we hand-made enormous miniature sets which were then filmed by legendary cinematographer Alex Funke.

In terms of the original blade runner, director ridley scott says deckard is a replicant. actor harrison ford says he is not. various non-theatrical cuts of the film imply that deckard's memories are implants, we were never told for sure. we do not find it out on blade runner 2049 either. but there are plenty of insinuations. can we expect a blade runner 3? time will tell. click here to get blade runner 2049.
